Erma Marie (Coen) Stroble, 87, passed away on January 7th, 2021 at the County Place Senior Living in Independence, Kansas. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, January 12th at Potts Chapel at 11:00am with visitation before the service from 10:00-11:00am. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Erma Marie Stroble was born July 31, 1933 in Independence, Kansas. She was the daughter of Delta Ezekiel and Nora Edith (Wright) Coen. She was raised in Independence and graduated from Independence High School in 1952. After graduation she joined the United States Navy and served in the Korean War.
On July 31st, 1956 she was united in marriage with Lyle Lyndon Stroble. They made their home in Chula Vista, California. Erma worked as an LPN for 29 years at the Chula Vista Community Hospital. They moved back to Independence in 1993 after retiring. Lyle passed away in 2007.
Erma enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and puzzles. Her faith was very important to her. She was a member of the Crystalbrook Church of Independence.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Lyle, brothers: Kenneth Coen and Donald Coen and son-in-law Eddie Matthews.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Elaine Matthews of Independence, KS., Nancy (Darrall) Chamblee of Lee Summit, MO. and Kate Friedline of Wichita, KS.; sons: Larry (Lee) Stroble of Independence, KS. and Lorne (Annette) Stroble of Bald Knob, Ark; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
