Linda Carol Tweedy, 72 of Independence, Kansas passed away Tuesday, November 15th, 2022, in Joplin Missouri.
Linda was born September 18th, 1950, in Goodland, Kansas to John and Neva (Hillman) Tweedy. She attended high school at Dodge City High School and graduated in 1968. She went on to further her education at Emporia State University, graduating with her Bachelor’s in Education in 1972, she then attended Pittsburg State University earning her Master’s in Special Education in 1977.
Linda taught at Tri-County and then later went on to teach Special Education at Independence High School where she later retired. She enjoyed every minute of her teaching career and touched many lives in the process. After retirement she worked at Wilson County Health Department from 2000-2009. After years of dedication and service to her community, she decided to become a homemaker and enjoy her hobbies, reading and computer technology as well as church activities. She was a long-time member of the Fredonia Church of Christ. Her favorite place to visit was the Nationwide Youth Roundup Ranch in Sedalia, CO.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Neva Tweedy, brothers Darrell and Raymond Tweedy, and sister, Neva Bozarth.
Her memory lives on with her brother, John Tweedy (Gerri) of Forsyth Missouri, sister, Laura Burris of Dodge City as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at Fredonia Church of Christ, 600 N. 15th in Fredonia, Kansas on Thursday, December 1st at 11:00am with burial immediately following at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence.
