Zo Ella Opdyke, 95, of Independence died Wednesday at the Montgomery Place, Independence, Kansas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 23, 2014 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Darren Melton of the First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel.
Visitation will be held Wednesday April 23, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Potts Chapel with the family receiving friends at that time.
Zo was born February 22, 1919 in Custer City, Oklahoma the daughter of Howard and Gail Storm Wheeler.
She grew up in Cherryvale, Kansas and graduated from the Cherryvale School System.
On March 21, 1939 in Independence, Kansas Zo was united in marriage to Carl C. Opdyke and the couple made their home in Green Bay, Wisconsin up on Carls retirement in 1977 the couple moved to Independence. Carl preceded her in death in October 1988.
Zo worked as a checker for Super Value Grocery in Green Bay, Wisconsin for ten years and was a home maker.
Survivors include a son William H. Opdyke and wife Leigh of Bonita Springs, Florida, two grandsons Jeff D. and Amy Opdyke of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Kevin Forness, Richmond, Virgina, two great grandchildren Zack Opdyke and Nicole Opdyke of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by two brothers Don Wheeler and Jo B. Wheeler and two sisters.
