WILLIS SANFORD ORCUTT WILLIS SANFORD ORCUTT, AGE 85, OF TYRO, KANSAS FORMERLY OF CANEY, KANSAS DIED FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2009 AT THE CRAIG MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN VINITA, OKLAHOMA. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2 P.M., TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2009 AT THE TYRO METHODIST CHURCH WITH THE REVEREND DAN CARR OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW IN THE SUNNYSIDE CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE POTTS CHAPEL IN CANEY, KANSAS. VISITATION HOURS WILL BE HELD FROM 12 P.M. TO 8 P.M., MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2009 WITH THE FAMILY RECEIVING FRIENDS FROM 6 P.M. TO 7 P.M. AT THE POTTS CHAPEL IN CANEY, KANSAS. THE FAMILY HAS SUGGESTED MEMORIALS TO THE ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION, TYRO METHODIST CHURCH OR THE GIDEON'S BIBLE AND CONTRIBUTIONS MAY BE LEFT AT THE POTTS CHAPEL IN CANEY, KANSAS. WILLIS WAS BORN APRIL 6, 1924 IN KANE, PENNSYLVANIA TO SAM AND HELEN LARSON ORCUTT. HE GREW UP IN KANE, PENNSYLVANIA AND ATTENDED SCHOOLS THERE. WILLIS ENTERED THE UNITED STATES NAVY OF APRIL 7, 1941 AND SERVED DURING WORLD WAR II UNTIL HIS HONORABLE DISCHARGE ON MAY 10, 1947. ON JUNE 8, 1945 WILLIS MARRIED MAXINE FAYE FORD IN NAPA, CALIFORNIA. THE COUPLE RETURNED TO CANEY WHERE THEY MADE THEIR HOME BEFORE MOVING TO TYRO, KANSAS. MAXINE PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH ON NOVEMBER 18, 1997. WILLIS WORKED FOR NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA AS A TOOL AND DIE MAKER. HE RETIRED IN 1986. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, TYRO METHODIST CHURCH, VFW AND MASONIC LODGE. SURVIVORS INCLUDE ONE DAUGHTER JOYE NUNNELEY AND HUSBAND GENE OF CANEY, ONE DAUGHTER IN LAW JANICE ORCUTT, CANEY, TWO SISTERS SHIRL RUPERT OF MONETA, VIRGINIA, CAROLA WALLACE AND HUSBAND DR. RICHARD OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA; NINE GRANDCHILDREN, BRIAN ORCUTT, AMANDA ORCUTT, GORDON ORCUTT, MICHELE BRADFORD, JAMES ORCUTT, DANA TIFFANY, GINGER YOUNG, REGINA HEDGES, AND SAMUEL NUNNELEY; 14 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN RUGER ORCUTT, MADISON NUNNELEY, KENNEDY NUNNELEY, LYNDON NUNNELEY, BRITAIN HEDGES, HANNAH HEDGES, SETH HEDGES, JOHNATHAN YOUNG, SHANDA ORCUTT, SAVANNAH TIFFANY, JACKSON TIFFANY, PAXTON BRADFORD, CADE ORCUTT, AND NATHAN ORCUTT. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY TWO SONS JACK ORCUTT AND JERRY ORCUTT AND DAUGHTER IN LAW AMELIA ORCUTT.
