William "Jay" Etter

William “Jay” Etter, age 73, of Mound Valley, Kansas passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at his home in Mound Valley, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Services will be held at a later date. Friends may leave online condolences at www.pottsfuneralhome.com. The family has suggested memorials to the Pals Humane Society or the Salvation Army and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel.

William “Jay” Etter was born December 13, 1948 in Coffeyville, Kansas to W.H. and Lili Mae (Elwood) Etter. He grew up in Dearing, Kansas and graduated from the Coffeyville High School in 1966. Jay then attended the Coffeyville Junior College.

On September 12, 1966 Jay married Jo Ann Logan in Dearing, Kansas and the couple made their home in Mound Valley, Kansas. Jay worked construction before going to work for the Coffeyville Refinery (CVR) in 1979 until he retired in 2011. In 2007 Jay owned and operated SEK shooting sports in Mound Valley, Kansas. He was a member of the City Council of Mound Valley, Duck’s Unlimited and the NRA. Jay loved to sail, scuba dive and quail hunt. He was a loving family man and was very proud of his entire family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Jo Ann of the home; one son Anthony Lee Etter and wife Susan of Dearing, Kansas; one daughter Angela J. Templeton and husband David of Mound Valley, Kansas; 11 grandchildren Branden Etter, Jaymee Etter, Jayson Etter, Jenifer Vaught, Bryen Etter, Bella Etter, Elijah Herrington, Tara Herrington, Caelean Templeton, Amber Henry and Laura Lingenfelter; 12 Great Grandchildren Rayden Etter, Tristan Etter, Paizlee Etter, Hunter Vaught, Kaydence Harp, Grayson Vaught, Bryson Battershall, Layne Battershall, Blakely Etter, John & James Lingenfelter and Jill Lingenfelter and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Junior and one sister Margaret.
