William Slane

William Bill Roy Slane age 57, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Cremation has taken place. Catholic Rites will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 2010 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel. Reciting of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale, Kansas. William Bill Roy Slane was born March 4, 1953 in Monte Vista, Colorado to Roy and Anna Roetker Slane. Bill grew up in San Lewis Valley in Colorado. He graduated from the Mosca, Colorado High School. Bill worked as a cowboy, and later as a maintenance man for the Great Sand Dunes National Park. On February 20, 1983 Bill married Peggy Kelley in Alamosa, Colorado. In 1993 the couple moved to Cherryvale, Kansas. Bill worked as a maintenance man for Cherryvale High School. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife Peggy of the home his mother Anna Denton of Hooper, Colorado two sons Steve Slane of Kansas City, Kansas and Robert Bobby Slane of Cherryvale, Kansas three brothers Tom Slane of Victor, Colorado John and Jim Slane both of Hooper, Colorado two grandchildren Caleb Conner Slane both of Cherryvale, Kansas.
