William Bill Edward Meehan, Jr., age 61 of Neodesha, Kansas died Tuesday, at his home in Neodesha, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church with the Father Stephen Mahn Thapwa officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Mr. Meehan was born July 31, 1950 in Pittsburg, KS, the son of William E. and Antoinette Toni Meehan. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, NE in 1968. On November 30, 1978, he was united in marriage to Lorena Lutz and the couple later divorced. He graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1997 with a Masters in History and retired from teaching at Pittsburg State in 2003 and moved to Neodesha where he made his home. He was a great lover of history, genealogy and writing. Bill was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his daughter Nicolette Lutz, Lincoln, NE, three grandchildren Deion, Clayton and Ava, Lincoln, NE, along with sisters Catherine David Heffernan, Conifer, CO, Toni Allen Barnhart, Altoona, KS, and Francie Tom Currie, Neodesha, KS, brothers Edward Meehan, Omaha, NE and Ken Meehan, Neodesha, KS, his Uncle Mickey and Aunt Gaby Manfire, Aurora, CO, as well as eight nieces and nephews and 18 greatnieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother Michael Joseph Meehan. The family has suggested memorials to the Wilson Medical Center Foundation or Rankin Memorial Library, Neodesha.
