NEWS MEDIA NOTIFICATION WILLIAM BILL TAYLOR DURHAM William Bill Durham, 83, of Fredonia passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Wichita Specialty Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Cremation has taken place with Celebration of Life services to be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 22, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Fredonia with Reverend Milo Steffen, officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Weakly Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Rex Ogle, Ron Price, Everett Hime and John Wickham. The family may be contacted at the John and Sherri Wickham residence 13535 1099 Road, Fredonia, Kansas. Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Avenue of Flags in Fredonia and they may be mailed to Potts Chapel, P.O. Box 801, Independence, Kansas 67301. William Taylor Durham was born February 19, 1927 in Fredonia, Kansas, the son of Cecil Fiscus and Ethel Mae Durham Fiscus. He grew up and attended schools in Fredonia and later enlisted in the United States Army where he served 22 years 2 months. After his retirement from the Army he farmed and was a mechanic for many years in the Fredonia area. On April 4, 1945 in Fredonia, Kansas he was united in marriage to Betty Jo Swindler. She preceded him in death December 3, 1957. Bill was a member of American Legion, VFW, Fredonia Golf Club and helped start the American Legion and Avenue of Flags. Survivors include daughter, Sherri Wickham and her husband John of Fredonia, Kansas, daughter in law, Diane Durham of Westminster, Colorado, three sisters, Doris Swank of Hutchinson, Kansas, Mary Sale of Kansas City, Missouri, Betty Hime and her husband Everett of Idabel, Oklahoma, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Deanna Durham, son, Dewayne Durham, four brothers, Wilford Pritchett, Gene Fiscus, Donald Lee Fiscus, and George Fiscus.
