Wayne Foster

June 11, 1940 — August 12, 2020

Wayne Richard Foster age 80 of Independence passed away at his home with his loved ones by his side on August 12, 2020.

Wayne was born in rural Labette county on June 11, 1940 to L. L. and Pearl Irene (Mathes) Foster. He attended union grade school and graduated from Labette County High School. He continued his education at Coffeyville Community College but only attended a year before he enlisted in the United States Army. After his discharge he was united in marriage to Gayle Kidd on June 5, 1965 at the Angola Methodist Church. The couple was blessed with two daughters. Wayne was a Computer Programmer Analysts. Wayne loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, fishing, his family, and mowing and mowing and mowing. Wayne was reserved, he always sat in the background quietly listening. He was strong willed to put it simply, a private person with strong beliefs  in loyalty and family.

Wayne’s memories will live on with his wife Gayle, his daughters Tracy Lynn Foster and Cheryl Cunningham and her husband Eric Barnes., grandchildren, Cole Cunningham and Raygan Cunningham, and sister Linda Weltmer.

He now rests with his parents and brother Harold Foster.

The family suggests memorials be made payable to AWOL in Independence.

Graveside services under the direction of Potts Chapel will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale at 10:30 am. To share a memory or leave a message of condolence, please visit www.pottsfuneralhome.com
