Warren Harlin

Warren "Tom" Thomas Harlin, age 60, of Independence, Kansas died Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at his home in Independence, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Potts Chapel with Boyd Hamlin officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.

The family has suggested memorials to the Carson Masonic Lodge #132 in Elk City, Kansas or the Independence VFW and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel.

Warren "Tom" Thomas Harlin was born December 4, 1954 in Independence, Kansas to Jerry and Peggy (Hurst) Harlin. Tom grew up in Independence, Kansas and graduated from the Independence High School in 1973. He attended the Independence Community College.

On October 4, 1975 Tom married Debbie Bryant in Independence, Kansas where they made their home. Tom worked at the Cement Plant, and was co-owner with his father of Harlin Glass, he also worked at Cessna and Cobalt. Tom was a member of the Carson Masonic Lodge #132 and was a member of the Big Hill Bird Dog Club. Tom coached Little League Baseball, helped with the Independence Wrestling club, loved to hunt, fish, dance, socialize, raise bird dogs, entertaining friends of his children, watching the Royals, Chiefs and grilling out.

Survivors include his wife Debbie of the home; one son Chet Harlin and wife Emilea of McPherson, Ks; one daughter Shawna Jones and husband Mike of The Colony, Texas; his mother Peggy Harlin of Independence, Kansas; grandmother Margaret (Mom) Harlin of Independence, Kansas; two brothers Doug Harlin and wife Shelli and David Harlin both of Independence, Kansas; one sister Warrenetta Underwood and husband Pat of Fort Collins, Colorado; five grandchildren Addison Harlin, Bergen Jones, Colt Harlin, Cayson Harlin, and Brynn Jones. Grandchildren called Tom Pappy AKA Happy.
