Walter Bellairs

Walter M. Bellairs, 101 of Independence, Kansas passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Mercy Hospital, Independence, Kansas.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a. m., Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Potts Chapel in Independence with the Reverend John Wilson of the Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel Independence.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel.
The family has suggested memorials to AWOL Humane Society in Independence and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence.
Walter was born June 4, 1913 in Wichita, Kansas the son of George M. and Beth (Seibel) Bellairs.Walter graduated from the Girard School System and he then attended Kansas State University from which he received his degree in Civil Energizing.
On October 15, 1939 Walter was united in marriage to Alice K. White and the couple made their home in Independence. Alice preceded Walter in death in 1994.
Walter dedicated 41years of his life to working with the Sinclair Pipeline which became ARCO pipeline and he was the Regional Manager of the Southwest.
He was a Past member of the Independence VFW, American Legion, Independence Country Club and the third Monday investment club. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors Include two sons George Bellairs and wife Joan of Bellevue, NE., and Bill Bellairs and wife Twila of Melbourne, FL. Six grand children and eleven great grandchildren.
