W. Aline Blumer, 90, of Independence went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Regal Estates Independence. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Friday June 29, 2012, at the Potts Chapel, Independence with the Reverend Rex Ricter of the Assembly of God Church, Independence officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence under the direction of the Potts Chapel, Independence. Visitation hours will be from 9:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m. Thursday June 28, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p. m. at the Potts Chapel, Independence. The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Aline was born April 28, 1922 in Woodward, Oklahoma the daughter of George and Vera Brown Corbett at the age of 8 due to the illness in the family Aline was adopted by Benjamin and Josei Hornbeck and she grew up in Mutal, Oklahoma, attending and graduating as salutatorian in 1940 from the Mutal School System. On July 24, 1940 Aline was united in marriage at Cestos, Oklahoma, to Warren D, Blumer they made their home in Mutal, Oklahoma. In 1952 they moved to Independence, Kansas. Warren preceded her in death. Aline worked for the City Publishing Company, Independence from which she retired after 33 years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her daughter Lavonne Bratcher Carthage, Mo., one son Darrell E. Blumer Wichita, Ks one brother Terry Corbett Las Creus, New Mexico, three sisters Margaret Rollins Weathford, Ok Dorothy Reeves Grand Prale Tex. And joy Briggs of Las Crues, New Mexico she has 6 grandchildren, two Great Grand Children and one Great Great Grand Child.
