Virginia Potter

February 28, 1933 — December 12, 2015

Virginia Dot Potter, age 82, formerly of Independence passed away on December 12, 2015 at her home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.


Dot was born in Neodesha on February 28, 1933 to Otis and Flossie (Henderson) Bryant. The family lived in Sycamore and she attended and graduated from Altamont High School. After graduation she began working for Mercy Hospital in the billing department. That same year she met Delbert Potter and the couple was married on September 9, 1953, to this union the couple was blessed with three children. Dot loved watching the Game Show Network and Days of Our Lives, she also enjoyed trying her luck at the casino and bingo. Dot was known to have an onry side but she was very genuine and always put the needs and care for others first.


Left to honor her memory are her children, Mark and wife Rita Potter, Patricia and husband Lesley Malone, Susan and husband Mike Malone, a sister Unabelle Testerman, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Delbert, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and a grandchild.


A graveside service honoring her life will be held on Thursday December 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery with Chaplin Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday December 16, 2015 at Potts Chapel with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association and may be left with the Chapel.
