Virginia Bustos

Virginia Bustos, age 84 of Independence, Kansas died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at her home in Independence, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with the Father Benjamin Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Reciting of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with the family receiving friends after the Rosary. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the St. Andrews Catholic School or the Cancer Center of Kansas through Mercy Hospital and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Virginia was born August 14, 1925 in Humboldt, Kansas to Casimero and Visenta Montanez Sanchez. She grew up in Humboldt, Kansas and graduated from the Humboldt High School. On October 23, 1953 Virginia married Joe Bustos in Independence, Kansas where the couple made their home. Virginia worked for Electra ACC retiring from ACC on June 23, 1988. She was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church and the St. Andrews Catholic Church Altar Society. Survivors include her husband Joe of the home four daughters Toni Jackson of Centennial, Colorado, Carol Vaca of Kansas City, Missouri, Theresa Howell of Elk City, Kansas and Linda Bustos of Thorton, Colorado one son Richard Bustos and wife Chirlei of Chandler, Arizona 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren four sisters Esther Roxson of Santa Rosa, California, Gloria Wynn of Atlanta, Georgia, Manuela Powell of Santa Rosa, California and Enriqueta Marquez of Los Angeles, CA two brothers Salvador Sanchez of City of Commerce, CA and Louis Sanchez of Humboldt, Kansas. She was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, parents and 2 grandchildren.
