Independence

Virginia M. Boyle, 101, died Monday, October 18, 2021, at The Medicalodges in Independence, Kansas.  She was born on July 2, 1920 in Neodesha, Kansas, graduating from Neodesha High School in 1938 and attending Independence Community Junior College, where she met her husband.

Virginia married Frank R. Boyle on September 10, 1940, making Independence her home for over 80 years and raising three children. Together, they ran Boyle Truck Lines in Independence for over 40 years. Prior to Frank’s death in 2002, they celebrated 62 years of marriage. She was a member at The First Christian Church in Independence.

Virginia known as “GG” is remembered by her family for hosting all the family holidays and celebrations well into her nineties and many times, housing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with their friends. She enjoyed going to coffee with her friends, getting her hair done weekly and attending many, if not all, of her granddaughters’ and great-grandchildren Bulldog events. GG always welcomed everyone in for a cup of coffee, a warm meal or one of her favorites - a sweet treat. She is known to family and friends for her warm and loving personality, as well as being impeccably dressed from head to toe.

Virginia is survived by her children, Ron Boyle (Danette), Tulsa, OK, James Boyle (Yolanda), Independence, KS, and Debbie Whitehead (Phil), Independence, KS; grandchildren, Shelley Conner (Kevin), Stephanie De La Torre (Rudy), Anne Bertie (Cory), Tiffany Hellen (David); great-grandchildren, Matthew Boyle, Bayley Conner, Ashlyn Hammer (Jake), Brecken and Brynn Bertie and Owen, Ainsley Virginia & Hayley Hellen; step-grandsons, Phil (Katie) Whitehead (Jacob, Logan & Colton) and Jim Whitehead. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, granddaughter Kristin Cason and great-granddaughter Blake Bertie.

GG’s grandchildren and great grandchildren always felt her warm unconditional love along with the many other children that had the great opportunity to know her.
