Violet Marie Gurwell Robbins Gillman was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on March 15, 1935 to Joseph and Eula Gurwell. She was the fourth of five. While still an infant the family moved to Twin Falls County, Idaho. Violet attended schools there and graduated from Buhl High School in May 1953. She was married that year also. She lived on a farm and began her career with Safeway and began her family. All three of her sons were born in Magic Valley Memorial Hospital in Twin Falls and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and school in Buhl.
Violet moved to Montgomery County in 1969 and continued her Safeway career and her second marriage to Leroy Gillman in April 1973. They bought a small acreage farm in the country and made a very happy life there for 37 years. She retired from Safeway after 30 years. She was a board member on Consolidated No.1 Water District for many years. Violet was a member of a knitting group for several years and has many good memories of her time shared with those wonderful ladies. Her churches, First United Methodist, and Tyro Christian Church were a real source of inspiration and comfort to her and she was always working on her spiritual journey.
