Violet Brechbill

Violet Brechbill, 98, of Independence died on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at her home.
Violet Ellen (Davis) Brechbill was born February 3, 1917 in York County, Near Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, the only child of LeRoy and Mabel (Klepper) Davis. She received her elementary and high school education in the public schools of Dillsburg, PA.
Her principal work history was with Hershey Creamery Company of Harrisburg, PA where she was employed as a supervisor and scheduler of female employees. It was while at Hershey Creamery that she met her future husband. She married Robert K. Brechbill on June 16, 1946, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dillsburg, PA. She moved to Marion Ohio in 1947, when her husband was transferred by his employer, Sinclair Pipe Line Company. While living in Marion Ohio, their three daughters were born in 1949.
She moved with her husband and family to Independence, KS in 1953. Soon after coming to Independence she became a charter member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Brechbill was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of the home; her three daughters, Colleen Confer and husband Keith, Carla Brechbill of Independence, and Carin Bardwell and husband Robert of Albuquerque, New Mexico, two grandchildren Christopher Confer and Carleen Shirk and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel, Independence, Kansas
Burial will be in the family plot in the Dillsburg Cemetery in Dillsburg, PA, October 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Zion Lutheran Church and School or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions may be made through the Potts Funeral Home.
