Vickie Stonecipher was born September 23, 1946 to Walter and Virginia (Good) Austin, in Independence, Kansas and grew up on the family farm in Liberty, KS. She attended Liberty Grade School and Independence High School.
In 1964, she was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Virgil Darrell Stonecipher. They lived most of their life in Montgomery County except when Darrell served in the United States Air Force and lived in Texas. When stationed in Texas, Vickie had her first insurance position at Pioneer American Insurance Co, in Ft. Worth. This position began her lifelong interest in the insurance profession. She has work for Farm Bureau Insurance, Coffeyville Insurance Associates, Commercial Insurance and Schenck Insurance Agency. Always striving for excellence, Vickie earned her LUTCF and certified Senior Advisor designations as well as serving in all office capacities of Verdgris Valley Life Underwriters Association. However, her most honored and loved position was that of wife, mother and grandmother.
Having a strong belief in service, she held office as Montgomery County Republican Chairman, 4th District Vice President, Montgomery County Committee chair for Dick Nichols campaign. She was charter member of Independence and Coffeyville Soroptimists as well as Charter President of Independence Community Foundation. One of the most enjoyable positions she held was Program Director of the Leadership Coffeyville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Esther Lowry Chapter of the DAR. She also was well known for the etiquette and color analysis classes she provided through the Christian based company, Image of Loveliness. She enjoyed this for many years, often involving her daughters in the presentations.
Surviving are daughters, Darla (Doug) Rorick of Kansas City, MO and Gina Villasmil, of Independence, KS; grandchildren: Austin Stone Villasmil, Rachel Marie Villasmil; Andrew James Carroll, Cole Rorick and Katie Rorick; sister Claudia (Dennis) Tritabaugh; brothers Steve (Gay Nell) Austin and Michael (Penny) Austin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents Vern and Bessie Austin, Lawrence M Good and Thelma Lewis, Uncles Larry, Norman, James, and George Good. Aunts Betty Austin Navarre and Barbara Patchett.
Celebration of Life services will be Wednesday December 27th, 2017 at 10:00am at Potts Chapel in Independence, KS. Private family burial will follow at Mt, Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday December 26th, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm when the family will receive friends at Potts Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be left in Vickie's name to Rachel's Works or donations to Rachel's future care-can be left at Potts Chapel.
