Vernon Cron

Vernon D. Cron, age 84, of Caney, Kansas died Sunday, March 4 , 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Robbins Cemetery with the Evangelist David Bycroft of the Tyro Christian Church officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Tyro Christian Church. The family has suggested memorials to the Tyro Christian Church and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Vernon D. Cron was born March 23, 1927 in Coffeyville, Kansas the son of William M. and Mabel Short Cron. Vernon grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas and graduated from the Coffeyville High School. Vernon served in the United States Navy during World War II in Okinawa, Japan as a Seaman 1st Class. On January 15, 1948 Vernon married Patty Worth in Lyons, Kansas and the couple made their home in Caney, Kansas. Vernon was a carpenter by trade and worked for the Caney School District 436 as a bus driver and custodian where Vernon retired. He was a member of the Tyro Christian Church. Survivors include his wife Patty of the home one son Jimmy Cron of Caney, Kansas, five daughters Judy Kok of Manteca, California, Janice Cron, Jean Cron and Jonita Biggerstaff all of Caney, Kansas, and Julie Hester of Independence, Kansas one sister Beverly Jewell of Claflin, Kansas 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
