Verna Merrick

Verna Mae Merrick, age 73, of Mound Valley, Kansas past away Thursday, December 25, 2014 at her home in Mound Valley, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place Memorial Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Mound Valley Cemetery with Pastor Travis Modesitt officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.

Verna Mae was born July 8, 1941 in Parsons, Kansas the daughter of Earl D. and Jessie P. Cook Tallman. She attended school in Labette County graduating High School in 1959. In 1966 Verna married Emmett Merrick and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1984.

Survivors include two sons Emmett Bo Merrick Jr. and Mark Barney Suddock both of Mound Valley, Kansas two step sons Larry and Karen Merrick and Albert Lee Merrick all of Mound Valley, Kansas three daughters Shelli and Frank Phillips of Dante, Virginia, Sharolyn Suddock of Paola Ks Dedra and Ray Martin of Conway Springs, Kansas two step daughters Carolyn David Winters and Linda Killman of Mound Valley, Kansas two brothers Sam Tallman of Springdale, Arkansas, and Ron Tallman of Kensly, Kansas 25 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Kay Burkheart, brother Luther Tallman and grandson Josh Suddock.
