Valentine Hensley

February 14, 1927 — January 18, 2017

Valentine (Tiny) Hensley, 89, of Independence KS, passed away Wednesday, January 18th 2017 at her home.
A celebration of life service will be 10:00am, Saturday, January 21st 2017 at the Grace Fellowship Church in Coffeyville Ks. Visitation will be Friday, January 20th 2017 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm with the family receiving friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Potts Chapel in Independence Ks.
Valentine Tiny Hensley was born February 14, 1927 in Webbers Falls Ok. She was the daughter of Herman and Myrtle (Taylor) Clark. Tiny attended school in Webbers Falls where she graduated High School, and then Tiny attended Conner State College and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in teaching. She taught in Webbers Falls School District.
Tiny was united in marriage to Dale Hensley on September 25th, 1946 in Muskogee County OK, the family then moved to Erie Kansas for Dale's job then the family moved to Independence KS, in 1958. Tiny was a house wife and loved working with the food bank, the farmers market and helping with the first United Methodist Preschool. Tiny loved working in her flower garden and with the Garden Club. Tiny loved taking care of her animals and loved spending time with her family. Tiny also loved judging the Chautauqua County Fair which she has done for 53 years including last year.
Tiny is survived by one daughter Lucie Long and husband Gary of Omaha Nebraska, and one son Roger Hensley and wife Gail of Caney KS, two sisters; Margret Taylor of Norman OK, and Mary Reynolds of Broken Arrow OK, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great -great- grandchild.
Tiny was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents, six brothers and five sisters.
Memorials can be made in Valentine (Tiny) Hensley's name to the Chautauqua County Fair Board and can be left with Potts Chapel of Independence. Online condolences can be left to the family by going to www.pottfuneralhome.com
