Thomas Mackey

Thomas Tom Edward Mackey, age 60, of rural Tyro, Kansas died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas with the Pastor Mike Morris officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. Thomas Edward Mackey was born September 7, 1951 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Harold E. and Ruth Marie Mackey. Tom grew up in the Cotton Valley area south of Tyro, Kansas and attended school in Cotton Valley before graduating from the Caney High School in 1969. Tom worked for Collins Petroleum for 20 years before working for Moon Hill Electric and Logan Company. On February 28, 1981 Tom married Brenda Reeves in Independence, Kansas and the couple made their home in the rural Caney area. Survivors include his wife Brenda of the home two sons Ben and wife Jane Mackey of Copan, Oklahoma and Dylan Mackey of Bartlesville, Oklahoma one sister Karen and husband Rodney Lay of Dewey, Oklahoma two step grandchildren Mallory and Tristan and two nephews Rodney Lay Jr. of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and John Lay and Family of Coffeyville, Kansas. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Marion Butch Mackey. Tom loved his family, friends and to ride a good horse.
