Theresa Ann Gideon, age 67 of Elk City, Kansas died Friday, September 11, 2015 at her home in Elk City, Kansas.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas with Bruce Taylor officiating. Private Family burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel.

Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.

The family has suggested memorials to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.

Theresa Ann Gideon was born August 9, 1948 in Lakin, Kansas to Grant Edison and Martha Marie (Welch) Black. Theresa father Grant was in the Military so growing up Theresa moved several times. Theresa married Roy Britton and the couple later divorced. She graduated from nursing school in Wichita, Kansas and worked as a psychiatric nurse in Wichita, Kansas at Via Christi. She later moved to Elk City, Kansas. Theresa loved to sew.

Survivors include three sons Benjamin Lee Gideon of Wichita, Kansas, Britton Matthew Gideon of Wichita, Kansas and Joseph Grant Gideon of Overland Park, Kansas; one brother Dennis Allen Black of Sterling, Illinois; one sister Nina Joy Taylor of Monette, Missouri; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents.
