Thelma Johnson

Thelma Darlene Johnson, Independence, passed away on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life Service will be held, Saturday, April 30th at Potts Chapel at 10:00am. Visitation will be Friday, 5:00-7:00pm.

Darlene was born on July 23rd, 1948, in Independence, Kansas. She was the daughter of Walter and Lorene (Stewart) Carter. She was the oldest sibling of fourteen; Roger, Harold, Otis, Raymond, Gus, Sarah, Mary, Kay, Carl, Gladiss, Terry and Anita. Darlene was married twice and was the proud mother of Kimberly, LaTasha, Crystal and Kermit.

Throughout her life she worked at Nabisco in California and devoted her life to her family and always maintained a relationship with God. She enjoyed photography, the beach and making handmade cards for everyone to enjoy.

Darlene was blessed with eight grandchildren: DeAndre, Anthony, Dino, Brandon, Corey, Marcus, Kaela and Ceara; six great-grandchildren: Xavier, Roman, Carter, Nolen, Jordan, and the newest arrival Zayden. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
