Terry Lynn Sears

March 20, 1964 — October 28, 2024

Terry Lynn Sears, age 60, beloved wife, mother, and daughter, passed away peacefully at her home outside of Eudora, Kansas, surrounded by family on October 28, 2024.

Born March 20, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Leon and Patricia Bush, Terry moved to Wichita, Kansas, as a teenager, where she later met and married the love of her life, Kevin Sears, on June 17, 1994. Their wonderful marriage of thirty years brought forth two sons, Cody and Clayton Sears, whom Terry always referred to as her “little miracles.” In 2002, the young family moved to Independence, Kansas, where Terry lived and worked until 2019. That year, Kevin and Terry relocated to Eudora, Kansas, where she resided until her passing.

Terry was full of love, compassion, and kindness, dedicating her life to caring for others. She began her career in the interior design and customer service industries, working at Pier One Imports and Bank of America before taking time off to raise Cody and Clay. During this period, she launched her own jewelry business, Bangles ETC, which thrived until Kevin's hostile takeover and liquidation of its assets. Once the boys reached middle school, Terry became the Coordinator for the USD 446 after-school program, Kids CREW, where she served for thirteen incredible years before retiring. At Kids CREW, she played a crucial role in securing grant funding, founding the annual Kids CREW Carnival, and launching the recycling program. Most importantly, she took great pride in watching the countless Kids CREW students grow into fantastic young adults. Terry loved these children as if they were her own, and Kids CREW was deeply cherished by her. In her honor, the family requests that any donations be made to the USD 446 Afterschool Program should anyone feel so compelled. While Terry was profoundly invested in Kids CREW, her greatest joy came from being a mother. Being a mom was her ultimate goal and grandest achievement. Her commitment as a mother reached far outside of the home as she volunteered tirelessly as a room mom, served on the PTA, participated in the Bulldog Booster Board, organized the annual homecoming parade, and facilitated numerous behind-the-scenes activities for the schools of Independence. Her commitment to serving on various committees and boards was fueled by her passion for making a positive impact on the lives of local youth.

Terry and Kevin were members of the Rev City Church of Lawrence, Kansas.

Terry is survived by her husband of thirty years, Kevin Sears of Eudora, Kansas; her sons, Cody Sears of Gardner, Kansas, and Clayton Sears (Erynne Jamison Sears) of Wichita, Kansas; her parents, Leon and Patricia Bush of Derby, Kansas; her brother, Bryon Bush of Derby, Kansas; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Terry also leaves behind their lab Bo and five granddogs, whom she loved dearly and delighted in spoiling.

Funeral services will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene in Independence, Kansas, on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will immediately follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
