Terry Joe Long, age 55, of LaFontaine, Kansas died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at his home in LaFontaine, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Following visitation cremation will take place. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chautauqua, Kansas with the Reverend Ray Pile of the Assembly of God Church in Fredonia, Kansas officiating. Terry was born August 6, 1955 in Sedan, Kansas to Edward Melvin and Winimae Gorrell Long. He grew up in Sedan, Kansas and attended schools in Peru, Kansas. On August 14, 1975 Terry married Rebecca Casner in Sedan, Kansas. The couple made their home in Chautauqua, Kansas until 1998 when they moved to LaFontaine, Kansas. Terry was a farmer all his life and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Sedan, and Fredonia, Kansas. Survivors include his wife Rebecca of the home two sons Jacob Long of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Travis Long of Emporia, Kansas two daughters Misty Bennett of LaFontaine, Kansas and Victoria Fowler of Springfield, Missouri six brothers Melvin Long of CedarVale, Kansas, Marvin Long of Peru, Kansas, Eugene Long of Sedan, Kansas, Tom Long of Independence, Kansas, Jim Long of Peru, Kansas and Paul Long of Peru, Kansas two sisters Marion Forbes of CedarVale, Kansas and Lahoma Long of Peru, Kansas 15 grandchildren.
