Terry G. TJ Jay, 50, or Caney, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at his home in Caney. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009, at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas with Pastor Mike Morris of the Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Havana Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney. Visitation howrs will be held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 9, with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Caney. Terry was born Oct. 1, 1958, in Caney, Kansas to Earl and Doris SmithJay. He grew up in Havana and Caney. Terry graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1976. On February 10, 1978, Terry married Lori Ann Stevens in Caney, where they made their home. Terry worked for Loves Rental and then Hackney and Sons from 1977 to 1999. He later worked for Deans RV and most recently for Bell Camper in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and was a bartender for Short Creek in Caney. He attended the Assembly of God Church and was fire chief for the Havana Fire Department for about 10 years. Survivors include his wife, Lori of the home:, one son, Clinton Jay of Independence; one daughter, Amanda Jay of Independence: two grandchildren, Avery and Malachi Jay both of Independence; three brothers: Harold Jay of Springdale, Arkansas, twin brother, Jerry Jay of Caney, and Mark Jay of Caney; two sisters, Brenda Jay of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, and Sue Fox of Joplin, Missouri; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Judy Stevens of Havana, Kansas.
