Tanner Lee Kahler, age 12, of Independence and Buxton, Kansas died May 25, 2009 at the Fredonia Regional Hospital in Fredonia, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours on Friday will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Independence Wrestling Club or the Wilson County Fair Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Tanner was born January 19, 1997 in Independence, Kansas to Todd Lee and Nancy Sue Lanning Kahler. Tanner grew up in Independence and Buxton, Kansas he attended grade school in Independence, Kansas and middle school in Fredonia, Kansas. Tanner was a member of the Fredonia Middle School Band, the Busy Beavers 4-H club, Independence Wrestling Club, Fredonia Wrestling Club, played baseball and loved to fish. Survivors include his father Todd and wife Lisa Kahler of Independence, Kansas; mother Nancy and husband Doug Jones of Buxton, Kansas; two brothers Tim Erbe of Independence, Kansas and Chad Kahler Elk City, Kansas; sister Lisa Erbe of Manhattan, Kansas; four step brothers Tyler and Brandon Stein of Independence, Kansas, Zach and Jake Jones of Fredonia, Kansas; two step sisters Dayna Miles of Independence, Kansas and Tiffany Schnoover of Fredonia, Kansas; Paternal Great Grandparents Minnie Lloyd Sumner of Independence, Kansas; Paternal Grandfather Terry Kahler of Independence, Kansas; Maternal Grandfather Larry Lanning of Howard, Kansas, Maternal Grandmother Patricia Joe Snively of Howard, Kansas, Maternal Great Grandmother Aliene Cannon of Longton, Kansas.
