Suzi Burchfield, 80, formally of Havana, Kansas died Monday October 3, 2011, at the Via Christi Village, in Wichita, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday , October 8, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Caney with the Reverend Bob Clemence officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Havana Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel Caney,. Family will be receiving friends at the First United Methodist Church Caney following the inurnment from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm. The family has suggested memorials to the Caney High School Bull Pups Booster club or the Camp Healing Hearts of Camp Harrison Ark City, Kansas. Suzi was born November 12, 1930 the daughter of Ellis and Genevieve Callaway Martin in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from North East High School in Kansas City, Missouri she also attended college in Grand Junction, Colorado. On April 14, 1951 she was united in Marriage to Donald E. Burchfield in El Paso, Texas. Donald preceded her in death on January 20, 1977. Suzi worked as a Teacher Aid in the Caney Valley School system 436 from March 1971 until her retirement in 2001. Survivors are two sons David Burchfield of Wichita, Kansas, and Eric Burchfield of Havana, Kansas, 3 Daughters Leslee Nitz of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Donna Davidson of Caney, Kansas, Sally Goodson of Wichita, Kansas, three brothers Gordon Martin of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Claude Martin of Farmington, New Mexico and Loren Martin of League City, Texas eleven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
