Steven Douglas Rankin passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Cremation has taken place with Potts Chapel of Independence, Kansas.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11:00am at Potts Chapel. The family will greet friends from 10:00am-11:00am, before the service. Reverend John Wilson will be officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Steven Douglas Rankin was born June 8, 1961 in Independence, Kansas. He was the son of Ken and Karen (Grewell) Rankin. He attended Independence High School, Independence Community College and University of Kansas. In June of 2001, Steven married Amanda Watts. Together they have one son, Blake Rankin. The couple later divorced.
Steven worked in restaurant and food service management and as an auto finance manager.

He loved to golf, watch sports, cook and hang out with friends.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Blake Rankin of Bolingbrook, IL., siblings: Sandy Annable and husband Larry of Independence, KS., Mandy Marye and husband Jeff of Olathe, KS., Nieces and nephews: Stephanie Tibbetts and husband Chris of Clermont, FL., Bryan Mayes and wife Sarah of Castle Rock, CO., Bailey Marye of Olathe, KS., Nicholas Marye of Lawrence, KS. 3 great nieces and nephews.
