Steven Barney Edward Barnaby, age 66, of Elk City, Kansas died Friday, July 30, 2010 at his home in Elk City, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Elk City, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Steven was born September 19, 1943 in Independence, Kansas to James Jim and Doris McDonald Barnaby. He grew up in Howard, Kansas and graduated from the Howard High School. Steven then entered the United States Army and served during Vietnam stationed in Germany. He worked as a lineman for Westar for 32 years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion. On April 2, 1999 Steven married Frankie Jacka in Eureka, Kansas where they made their home before moving to Elk City, Kansas. Survivors include one son Stephen Barnaby of Emporia, Kansas two daughters Connie Johnson of Emporia, Kansas and Stephanie Arbuckle of Emporia, Kansas two step sons Shane Black of Coos Bay, Oregon and Tyrone Black of Garnett, Kansas four brothers Roland Barnaby and Max Barnaby both of Wichita, Kansas, Dale Barnaby of Pikesville, TN and Wayne Barnaby of Cary, TN two sisters Geneva Barnaby of Chattanooga, TN and Wanetta Arnold of Crossville, TN 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
