Steven Affolter

Steven Steve M. Affolter, 55, of Independence died Friday at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 15, 2010 at the Church of the Nazarene under the direction of the Potts Chapel, Independence with the Reverend Darren Melton officiating. Steven was born on July 12, 1956 the son of Robert and Rachael Smith Affolter in Daven Port, Iowa. Steven grew up in Independence and graduated from the Independence USD 446 School system. On May 28, 2005 in Kansas City, Kansas Steven was united in marriage to Tammy Wood and they made their home in Independence. Tammy survives at the home. Steven was a Mechanic and at the time of his death and was self employed. Steven was a member of the American Legion in Independence. Survivors include his mother Rachael Smith of Washington and his wife Tammy of Independence, three sons Mark Affolter of Joplin Mo., Eric Affolter of Mulvane, Ks., Brett Affolter of Overland Park, Ks., two Step Daughters Belinda Schneider of Dearing, Ks., Carrie Waters of Independence ,Ks., two brothers Richard Affolter of New Hampshire, Robert Affolter of Washington, and four grandchildren.
