Stephen Steve Hudson, 62, of Independence passed away Saturday , March 15, 2014 at the Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center, in Wichita, Kansas, with his family by his side.
Cremation has taken place and no Services are planned at this time.
There will be a book signing at the Potts Chapel, Independence on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. .
The family has suggested memorials to AWOL in Independence and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.
Steve was born September 17, 1951 in Independence, Kansas the son of Bill M. and Beverly Helm Hudson.
He grew up in Independence and graduated from Independence High School. He received his Associate Degree from Independence Community College. Steve then attended and graduated from the cosmetology program at the Coffeyville Community College. He then attended Pittsburg State University from which he received his Bachelors Degree in Psychology.
Steve owned and operated the Scissors Palace in Independence for many years.
He was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club.
Steve loved camping and was an avid camper at Grand Lake and will be missed by many of his camping friends. Steve was also an avid supporter of AWOL and loved animals.
Survivors include his mother Beverly Hudson of Independence, Ks. two sisters Wendy Fienen and husband Phillip of Independence, Ks., Connie Weiss and husband Marty of Albuquerque, New Mexico., one brother David Hudson and wife Kathy of Fort Worth, Texas. Two nieces Sally Hudson Christian of Fort Worth, Texas and Tracey Fienen Atlanta, Georgia, three nephews Mike Sparks of Albuquerque, New Mexico , Brad Hudson of Keller, Texas and Scott Fienen of Haven, Kansas.
