Steve Lynn Greer, 66, of Independence, Kansas, passed from this earth on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by the love of his family.
Steve was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to the late Claude and Genive (Gentry) Greer. He attended Independence High School. He went on to become a master electrician, proudly owning and operating Greer’s Electric Services for more than 50 years. Through his work, Steve built more than a business — he built relationships and a reputation for helping others whenever he could. In 2011, he opened Addyson Properties, owning and managing rental properties throughout Independence.
On June 29, 1979, Steve married the love of his life, Connie Sue Greer (Boyle). Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and love with their three children: Alysha, Stevie and Heather.
Steve’s greatest pride and deepest joy were his six beloved grandchildren: Addyson, Parker, Gentry, Flint, Evelyn, and Preslee, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Steve loved big and gave generously. If you knew him, chances are he made you laugh, made sure you had plenty to eat, or lent a helping hand without hesitation. He found joy in caring for others, whether through a home-cooked meal, a good story, or quiet acts of kindness. His greatest joys in life were his family, cooking for those he loved, and giving back to his community.
He enjoyed traveling, trout fishing, and spending time gathered around a table with family and friends. Steve was a proud Master Mason, Shriner, and member of the Scottish Rite. He also dedicated much of his time to charitable work throughout the Independence community, taking great pride in both his country and the place he called home.
Steve is lovingly remembered by his wife, Connie Sue Greer of the home; his children, Alysha (Brad) Boggs of Augusta, Kansas, Stevie (Katie) Greer of Edna, Kansas, and Heather (Matt) Boss of Cherryvale, Kansas; his grandchildren, Addyson Boss, Parker Allen, Gentry Boss, Flint Boss, Evelyn Boggs, and Preslee Greer; his siblings, Claude (Suzy) Greer of Paragould, Arkansas; Ricky Greer of Lexington, South Carolina; and Jennifer Greer Barrington of Paragould, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Lori (Keith Hofstrom) Boyle; Mother-in-law, Mary Passauer; Father-in-law, Wayne Boyle, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Genive Greer, and his sister, Beverly Howard, grandmother-in-law, Lena Sanders.
Steve will be remembered for his generous heart, quick humor, fierce love for his family, and the way he made people feel welcome, cared for, and fed. The world feels a little quieter without him, but his legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Potts Chapel on Wednesday, May 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Church Of The Nazare on Thursday, May 28, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow.
