Socorro Alcantar

Socorro Mendoza Alcantar, age 102 of Independence, Ks passed away Monday Dec. 22 at Mercy Hospital.
Reciting of the Rosary will be held Tuesday December 30th at 7:00pm at St. Andrews Catholic church and Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00am Wednesday, December 31st Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence, Ks.
Socorro was born July 24 1912 the daughter of Antonio and Antonia Franco Mendoza in Durango Mexico, she move to Independence, Ks at the age of 2 years old and has live in Independence 100 years she attended local Elementary schools
She was united in marriage to Inez Ortiz on December 2nd 1935 he preceded her in death on July 25th 1945, Socorro remarried in August 10th 1946 to Ybes Alcantar and he preceded her in death on August 21st 1964
She is survived by two sons Jesse Ortiz of Independence, Ks and Raul Alcantar of Topeka, Ks and two daughters Cathy Ervin of Independence, Ks and Delores Kitterman of Coffeyville, KS and one brother Manuel Mendoza and 15 Grand children 37 Great Grand children and 12 Great Great Grand children.
She preceded in death by her father and mother two sons Hilario Larry Ortez and Carlos Alcantar and three sisters Delores Gonzales, Soledad Leon and Rachel Ramos and Sally Koehn one brother Carlos Mendoza.
Memorials can be made to St. Judes National Shrine in Chicago, Illinois and may be left with Potts Chapel.
