Sik Chun “Jeannie” Mah, 85, Independence, Kansas passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Wilson County Medical Center in Neodesha, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
Jeannie was born in Canton, China and relocated to Topeka, Kansas at a youthful age with her husband Don Foon Mah. In 1963 the couple moved to Independence, Kansas where Jeannie was a homemaker and helped her husband Don at their restaurant the old China Star in Independence. Jeannie was a loving mother and grandmother she enjoyed watching college Basketball and an avid Kansas University fan.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, oldest son Peter Mah, and her husband Don Foon Mah. Those left to cherish her memory include youngest son Mike and wife Liying Mah, Independence, KS; daughter Mary Smith, Winston Salem, NC; daughter in law Rose Mah, brother Kufoo Wong, China; sister, Jean and husband Jim, Canada, seven grandchildren, Samson Mah, Alan Mah, Kevin Mah, Sumere and husband Joey Vrsecky, Sondra Smith, Alaura and husband Leo Rangel, and Katie Mah. Memorials in honor of Jeannie may be made to The Lupus Foundation, The Cancer Society or The American Heart Association and may be left with the chapel.
