Sid Morris age 81, of Independence, Kansas died Friday, April 13, 2012 at his home in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Mercy Cancer Center and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Walter Sidney Sid Morris was born December 30, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas to Wylie and Eva Boswell Morris. Sid grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from high school in Kansas City. After high school Sid entered the United States Navy Reserve Unit. Sid owned and operated Smack Drive Ins for over 26 years. In 1972 Sid married Mary Kolb in Hermitage, Missouri the couple made their home in Carbondale, Kansas. The moved to Topeka, Kansas and lived until moving to Cherryvale in 1983 and later to Independence, Kansas. Sid then worked for Romans, Royal and Pearl Chevrolet for 12 years as a car salesman. Sid was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cherryvale, Kansas. Survivors include his wife Mary of the home two sons Michael Morris and wife Stephanie of Fort Worth, Texas and Patrick Morris and wife Judy of Kansas City, Kansas two step sons Bill Eardley of Independence, Kansas and David Eardley of Grove, Oklahoma one brother Allen Morris of California two sisters Pat Gray and husband Jim of Overland Park, Kansas and Virginia Jordan of Little Rock, Arkansas 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild.
