Sherri Dawn McBride, age 59, of Caney, Kansas died Saturday, August 4th, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Independence, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Assembly of God Church in Caney, Kansas, with the Reverend Mike Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney. Visitation hours will be held from 9:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 8, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Potts Chapel in Caney. The family suggests memorials to the Kidney Foundation and the Assembly of God Church, Caney. Contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney. Sherri was born February 2, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Billy D. and Norma L. Cunningham Potts. She grew up in Oklahoma City before completing her schooling in 1971 at Caney High School. On October 9, 1971, Sherri was united in marriage to Dale McBride in Caney, making their home there. Dale survives at the home. Sherri was the director of the Guest Home Estates in Caney for 12 years. Prior to that she and Dale owned and operated McBrides Catering in Caney. Survivors include husband Dale one son Shawn and wife Amy of Grayslake, Illinois grandchildren Max McBride and Claire McBride her mother, Norma L. Hesse and Step Father Wallace Hesse of Fort Myers, Florida and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her Father, Billy, and brother Dale W. Potts.
