Sharon Kay (Woods) Leon of Wylie, Texas died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Methodist Richardson Medical Center at the age of 73.

Sharon is survived by her children: daughter, Kimberly R. Affeld, of Wylie, TX, son, Joseph P. Leon, of Kansas City, MO, and stepdaughters: Marcy Clay and Mary Jo Leon, of Kansas City, MO. One brother, Eldon Woods and wife Debbie of Independence, KS, 3 sisters: Janice Albin and husband Jim of Hesperia, CA, Virginia Hilyard of Fredonia, KS, and Sandra O’Brien and husband Mike of Kansas City, MO, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Joe Leon of Independence, KS in 2005, as well as her sister Doris Easter of Sacramento, CA and brother Larry Woods of Ontario CA.

Sharon was born on August 25, 1946 in Independence, Kansas to Charlie and Vera W. (Johnson) Woods. She was a proud graduate of Independence Senior High School in 1964. Sharon was employed by Automotive Controls Corporation in Independence for nearly 4 decades, working in assembly production and quality control. Sharon’s children remember her as a kind, gentle, and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams, believing that anything is possible, given the proper dedication, desire, and commitment to fulfill.

Sharon was a generous, witty, and fiercely dedicated daughter, sister, aunt and most of all “MOTHER”. She was an active and dedicated member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and often volunteered her time with great enthusiasm and a profound sense of gratitude.

Visitation will be held at Potts Chapel on Thursday, August 27th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Reciting of the Rosary will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 28th at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Zachary Pinaire officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Independence.
