Sharon Kay Hanks, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on January 7, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on November 8, 1942, in Columbus, Kansas, Sharon was the embodiment of love and devotion throughout her life.


She shared a profound bond with her husband, Gary R. Hanks, to whom she was married for 60 wonderful years. As a dedicated worker for her husband’s tv repair shop, Sharon later embraced her role as a stay-at-home wife and mother, nurturing her family with unwavering care and affection. Her passion for quilting brought beauty into her home and joy to those around her, creating magnificent pieces simply for the pleasure it brought to her and her loved ones. 

Sharon is preceded in death by the love of her life, Gary R. Hanks, by her beloved parents, Lucille and Ralph Waler, as well as her sister, Sandy Beasly. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion through her daughter, Karlyn Kay Roller, and son-in-law, Chris Roller. Her spirit will also live on in her great grandsons, Sam, Michael, and Jeriah Knowlton, as well as her great great grandsons, Axl and Colson Knowlton. Sharon’s warmth and kindness will be fondly remembered by her nieces, Susan Houdyshell, Shannon Newson, Amber, and Heather as well. 

In accordance with Sharon’s wishes, cremation will take place. Sharon Kay Hanks will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, creativity, and family devotion will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
