Sarah South

Sarah Jane South, age 30, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2020.

She was born August 13, 1989 in Fayetteville, AR to Ricky South and Linda Sue Batiah Nachmias.  Sarah was proud of her small-town roots in Longton and her big city life in Denver. She graduated high school an Elk Valley Lion in 2008, then college as a Pitt State Gorilla with a degree in construction management in 2013. She was a Project Engineer at RK Steel.  She was a vibrant, beautiful, strong, courageous, and outgoing woman who shared her life with partner Jonathan Cole in Colorado.  She loved spending time with her family, friends and pets hiking, climbing, skiing in the mountains, trying new food, traveling, attending concerts, and working on her and Jon’s home. On visits home to Kansas she fished, rode four wheelers and helped with farm chores.

Sarah joins grandparents Louis and Lois South and grandfather Ralph Easter in heaven.

She is survived by loving partner Jonathan Cole, parents Ricky (Norma) South and Linda Sue Batiah Nachmias, Jon's parents Bob and Janice Cole, Grandmother Rita Easter, sister Tabitha Hoke, sister Crystal Church, brother Thomas (Nikki) Church, Jon's brother Frank Cole, step sister Stephanie Rummery, step brother Richard “Jim” Rummery, and 12 nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends at Potts Chapel 122 S. Penn Ave. Independence, KS. 67301 on Friday, January 31st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Family, friends and others whose lives Sarah has touched are invited to Oak Valley Cemetery, Longton, KS, on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 am to reminisce, share in the joy that was her life, grieve, and support each other.  In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Sarah can be made to the American Cancer Society.
