Sam Stonecipher

Independence

Sam David Stonecipher 72, passed away after a brief illness on August 24, 2022. Sam was born February 26, 1950 in Independence, Kansas to Raleigh Waite and Eva May (Shepherd) Stonecipher. He grew up in Independence, Kansas and spent some years in Wichita, Kansas. Sam attended the Institute of Logopedics for six years, which impacted his life in a very meaningful way. He graduated from Wichita East High School. Sam worked for Wesley Hospital Cafeteria for many years. After moving back to Independence in 1996, he worked at McDonald’s in Maintenance for many years. Sam loved music, especially live music - and his favorite time of year was Neewollah.  He was a well known and well loved Independence resident.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vernon D.Stonecipher and Lorin Raleigh Stonecipher and his Sister in-law, Vickie Sue Stonecipher.

He is survived by his brother Virgil Darrell Stonecipher; his nieces Darla Sue Rorick (Doug) and Gina Michelle Villasmil; two great nephews, Austin Stone Villasmil and Andrew James Carroll, and great niece Rachel Marie Villasmil. Celebration of life to be announced at a later date by Potts Chapel. Friends may leave online condolences at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m.  Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Tyro Christian Church under the direction of the Potts Chapel.
