Russell Wayne Young, fondly known as Rusty, was born on November 7, 1962, in Garnett, Kansas. He left this world on June 16, 2025, in Independence, Kansas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, love, and laughter.
Throughout his life, Rusty was known for his remarkable skills as a handyman, dedicating many years to not only his profession but also to selfless service in his community. He spent the last several years volunteering at Hannah's House and Crystal Brook Church, where he touched countless lives with his generous spirit and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Rusty was not just a man of action; he was a beacon of positivity and warmth. We will forever cherish the morning conversations and coffee runs that became an integral part of his daily life. No matter what crazy shenanigans were ahead, Rusty's good morning goofy text messages were a delightful start to the day, always preparing those around him for adventures filled with joy and laughter.
His personality was a testament to the teachings of love and compassion, as he embodied the notion of "Love like Jesus." Rusty was a loving and caring figure who made everyone feel valued and appreciated. It can be said that he had the best sense of humor and truly knew how to uplift those around him with his jovial spirit. Rusty was always ready to lend a helping hand whether it be at church or Hannah's House. He was often seen cooking for friends and family, sharing his passion for food as well as life itself.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrel Young; mother, Mary Young; sister, Karen Whitcomb; and son, Nikki Dean Young.
Rusty's legacy will live on through his surviving family: his brother, Rodger Young, and sister, Sheryl Clark. With family ties that reflect deep love and camaraderie, he will be remembered fondly by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Rusty was a wise man whose journey on this earth was marked by his desire to support and uplift others. He will be dearly missed, but his impact on the lives he touched will endure in the hearts and minds of those he leaves behind.
