Ruby Meryl Adam, 85, Independence, Kansas passed away on Friday, September 25, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Potts Chapel of Independence officiated by her son, Pastor Don Adam. Ruby was born on July 6, 1930 to the late Fon L. and the late Clara Jane (Gordon) Johnson in Independence, Kansas. Ruby married Charles J. Adam on March 8, 1947, in Fredonia, Kansas, and they made their home in Independence.
The joy of her life sprang from her devotion to her family. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and from a heart touched with His love she touched the hearts of countless others. Her servant's heart was evident in her work as a CMA for several local nursing homes and in her devotion to Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church, where she was a member since 1952.
Ruby was preceded in death by her son, David Adam, her great-grandson, Michael Deon, her brother, Virgil Johnson, and her daughter-in-law, Bobbie Adam. Survivors include: her husband of 68 years, Charles J. Adam, her sons, Don and wife Karen Adam, Fullerton, CA; Mike Adam, Independence, KS; Pat and wife Sharon Adam, Independence, KS; Jim and wife Gloria Adam, Melbourne, FL; her daughter, Sharon and husband Tom Walter, Independence, KS; one half-brother Butch Johnson, MO; one half-sister, Mary Jane Leavens, Neodesha, KS; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with the chapel.
