Roger Rockwell

Roger Dean Rockwell, age 68, of Independence, Kansas died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Mount Hope Cemetery with the Reverend Andy Turner of the First Christian Church in Cherryvale, Kansas officiating under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the wife Nancy Rockwell and contributions may be mailed to P.O. Box 535, CedarVale, Kansas 67024. Roger was born September 25, 1941 in Oregon to John and June Spradling Rockwell. He grew up in Southeast, Kansas. Roger helped his parents who owned the Nursing Home in Cherryvale, Kansas. He was also a truck driver, construction worker and worked at the Rock Quarry. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his grandkids. On June 1981 Roger married Nancy Bohannan in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Survivors include three sons Lewis, Bill and Mark Rockwell three daughters, Karen Miller of Caney, Kansas, Michele Housel of Cherryvale, Kansas and Betsy Wonser of Wellington, Kansas seven grandchildren Matt Wonser, Devin Windsor, Shanele Windsor, Dennon Windsor, Chris Wonser, Timmy Wonser and Kaden Housel five great grandchildren Zak AlBureni, Landon Windsor, Collin Wonser, Madalynn Wonser, and Ava Windsor.
