Roger W. Holt crossed over quietly at home on the ranch in rural Cherryvale, Kansas on August 17th, 2021. Cremation has taken place with Potts Chapel. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to “Quail Forever” and can be mailed to 7742 Lime Kiln Drive, Neosho, MO 64850.
Roger was born on October 5th, 1932 in Vinita, OK. He grew up in Grove, where he excelled in sports, being interrupted by a tour in the U.S. Army, and graduated from Grove High School. This is where he met Martha E. Walker, which began a journey that would last more than 70 years. They were married May 22nd, 1952 and for the next fourteen years made their home in several states where Roger worked in the design and construction of refineries. In 1965, he moved his family to Independence, Kansas where he began a successful real estate business, excelling at helping farmers and ranchers find property. This was a great way for him to purse his passion for raising pointer birddogs and quail hunting which started at an early age.
After closing the office he retired to the ranch raising cattle and started a natural gas equipment business helping local producers.
He is survived by his wife Martha of the home, daughters: Debra (Ron) McCormick of Yates Center and Lori Carpenter of Independence; sons: Guy (Dianne) and Chad both of rural Cherryvale; sister Joy Holt of Kansas City, KS., seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Proceeding him in death were his grandparents Raleigh and Rachel Holt, father Willard Holt and mother Rosalina Holt.
