Robert L. Woody Woodward, 71, of Independence passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Wilson Medical Center, Neodesha, Kansas.
Cremation has take place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. December 15th, 2014 at the Church of Epiphany, Episcopal with the Reverend Gerald Eytcheson officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date under the direction of the Potts Chapel, Independence, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to the Church of the Epiphany, Episcopal or the Wounded Warrior Project or AWOL of Independence.
Woody was born June 15, 1943 in San Francisco, California the son of Robert C. and Barbara Rendenbaugh Woodward. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from the Kansas City school system. Woody also attended College in Kansas City, Missouri.
Woody proudly served in the United States Air force reserves and retired after 23 years of service.
On December 30, 1972 in Lexington Missouri, Woody was united in marriage to Elizabeth McFadden and the couple made their home in Missouri moving to Independence in 1980. Elizabeth survives at the home.
He was a member of the Church of the Epiphany, Episcopal and the Carson Lodge in Elk City, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth of the home one son Kurt Woodward of Anchorage, Alaska and three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
