Robert Bob Thomas Wilson, age 88 of Cherryvale, Kansas died Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Fredonia Regional Hospital in Fredonia, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Harrisonville Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Visitation Hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2011 with the family receiving friends at the Potts Chapel in Cherryvale, Kansas. Robert Bob Thomas Wilson was born November 27, 1922 in Neodesha, Kansas to John Robert and Dolly Bradley Wilson. He grew up in Neodesha, Kansas and graduated from the Neodesha High School, lettering in football, basketball and track football team was undefeated in 1939. Bob then attended the Independence Community College 3 semesters, played football two seasons, basketball, and track one season. He enlisted in Army Air Corp in 1942. Bob served in CBI China, Burma, India Theatre 15 months during World War II before his honorable discharge in 1946. Bob married Delores Wilson of March 17, 1953 in Bentonville, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2003. Bob worked for the city of Neodesha Electric Dept. for one year. He then worked for KGE now Westar Energy for 37 years, moving to Fredonia in 1955, Cherryvale in 1968 and retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, VFW Post 1186 and past Lions Club member. Bob lived in Cherryvale, Kansas for over 40 years. Bob served on the school board, past president, was secretary of the Pride Committee, past president of Lions, served two terms as vice president on the country club when it went from sand to grass greens, and was a deacon, elder and trustee of the First Presbyterian Church in Cherryvale. Survivors include his brother Max V. Wilson and wife Maxine of Fredonia, Kansas two nephews Terry Wilson of Lawrence, Kansas and Barry Wilson of Wichita, Kansas one niece Linda Hoobler of Wichita, Kansas and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Deborah L. Wilson, one brother Don Wilson and one nephew Stanley Wilson.
