MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL WILL BE HELD AT 10:00 AM TUESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2010 AT THE SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH IN CANEY, KANSAS WITH THE FATHER SIXTUS MYINT OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT 2:30 PM AT THE ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CEMETERY IN WALNUT, KANSAS UNER THE DIRECTION OF THE POTTS CHAPEL OF CANEY. RECITING OF THE ROSARY WILL BE HELD AT 7:00 P.M. MONDAY, AUGUST 23, 2010 AT THE SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH IN CANEY, KANSAS. VISITATION HOURS WILL BE HELD FROM 12:00 P.M. TO 5:00 P.M. MONDAY, AUGUST 23, 2010 AT THE POTTS CHAPEL IN CANEY, KANSAS. THE FAMILY HAS SUGGESTED MEMORIALS TO THE SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH ALTAR SOCIETY OR THE CANEY AMERICAN LEGION AVENUE OF FLAGS AND CONTRIBUTIONS MAY BE LEFT AT THE POTTS CHAPEL IN CANEY, KANSAS. ROBERT BOB HERMAN SHIVELY WAS BORN JULY 3, 1929 IN WALNUT, KANSAS TO RICHARD AND CAROLINE ELMER SHIVELY. HE GREW UP IN WALNUT, KANSAS AND GRADUATED FROM THE WALNUT HIGH SCHOOL. IN 1949 BOB ENTERED THE UNITED STATES MARINES AND SERVED DURING THE KOREAN WAR AND WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED IN 1952. ON NOVEMBER 14, 1953 BOB MARRIED SARA MARIE MODICA IN WALNUT, KANSAS. BOB WORKED AS A PROPANE PLANT MANAGER FOR 32 YEARS IN CANEY, KANSAS. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, AMERICAN LEGION SERVING AS ADJENT AND COMMANDER, CANEY SCHOOL BOARD OF EDUCATION, CITY OF CANEY ZONING BOARD, JAYCEES AND LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL IN CANEY, KANSAS. BOB WAS INSTURMENTAL IN THE CANEY AMERICAN LEGION AVENUE OF FLAGS. SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS WIFE SARA M. SHIVELY OF THE HOME THREE SONS RICHARD SHIVELY OF GILBERT, ARIZONA, ROBERT SHIVELY OF OLATHE, KANSAS AND CHARLES SHIVELY OF COFFEYVILLE, KANSAS ONE DAUGHTER CAROLYN SHAW OF CANEY, KANSAS ONE SISTER PEARL MODICA OF WALNUT, KANSAS 9 GRANDCHILDREN AND 7 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.
