Robert Lee “Bob” Meier, 72, of Independence, passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2020.
Bob was born on February 26, 1948, in Monroe, Wisc., to Eddie and Alvena Meier. He attended school in Nora, Ill. and graduated from Warren High School in Warren, Ill., in 1966.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Gareda; brother, Dean (Millie) Meier; son, Mark (Marcy) Meier; daughter, Michelle Meier-Kiani; son, Mitchell Meier; son, Heath (Alissa) Meier; son, Robert (Maria) Meier; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lee Meier.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to everyone.
He worked as a customer assistant at Sayers Ace Hardware for the past 5 years.
Bob spent his free time watching Nascar, sports and NCIS. He also enjoyed having coffee on the deck, watching the snoops (squirrels) and hummers, jay jays and sparkles (hummingbirds, blue jays and cardinals).
Bob was very loving and kind. He loved picking on his grandkids and spending time with family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29, at 11 am at Potts Chapel in Independence. Graveside services will follow immediately after at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2020, from 5 - 7 pm at Potts Chapel in Independence.
